Our school is a vibrant learning environment, buzzing with curiosity, exploration and discovery!
At Crossroads Elementary School, children begin their educational journey developing a lifelong love of learning, self-discovery and a sense of responsibility for the world around them. The foundation of their learning is built upon the strong relationships and partnerships we develop with students and with families. Students feel seen and heard, and in turn, are kind, compassionate and supportive of their peers.
A child must have a birthdate between May 1, 2017 to July 1, 2018 to enter kindergarten in the academic school year 2023-24. Applications for kindergarten begin August 1, 2022 and are due December 9, 2022.

Applying to Kindergarten
Kindergarten Admission mirrors the relationship-based nature of our School. We want to fully understand your family and aim to achieve a philosophical fit, so that what happens at school is an extension of what happens at home. Please read on to understand the key components of our admission process.
Our kindergarten program is large, stimulating and fast-moving, with many transitions and multiple specialists for children to get to know. Upon review, and after much thought, research and experience, we have instituted an Age Cap and Cutoff policy.
While the kindergarten program can accommodate a reasonable range of students cognitively, the children should be socially/emotionally mature and ready to thrive in a big, busy program with lots of transitions and personalities beyond the classroom teachers.
Admission professionals, Elementary School administrators and faculty members make up the Admission committee that closely reads and reviews each child’s file to fully understand that child’s strengths, challenges and readiness for our program, as well as the philosophical fit of the family and School.
Each child who completes the process receives full and thorough consideration.
In creating a class, we adhere to one of the core commitments in Crossroads' Statement of Philosophy, striving to create a community that is racially, ethnically, geographically and socio-economically diverse, with varying family structures, religious beliefs, etc.
While we give preference to sibling, employee and legacy families, we can make no guarantees. The average numbers of new families are consistently 40% of the class.
Through an immersive tour during the school day, where you'll learn from students, teachers and administrators about curriculum and programs. Witness students in action, receive first hand perspectives from current parents and experience the spirit of the School.
Through our Discover Crossroads Elementary School Open House, you will get to experience the day-in-the-life of a Crossroads student.
Through various Spotlight events, you will be able to understand our community of teachers and how they live out our progressive philosophy.
Through a Family Conversation to learn about you, with time to delve deeper into questions and thoughts that arose during your search and/or the tour.
Through your Parent/Guardian Statement, which gives us insight into the uniqueness of your family and your child.
Through our Family Conversation you, as the experts on your child, give us specific, invaluable insights into what makes your child “tick," sharing who this multifaceted, special human being is and how they maneuver through life.
Through the comprehensive common LAIS Evaluation Form filled out by your child’s teachers, who are experts on their day-to-day development in a learning environment.
Through our student visit, your child will get to experience Crossroads in a meaningful way. Your child will have the opportunity to connect with our teachers, explore our school campus, and learn through activities and play.
