Extravaganza Showcases Spirit of Crossroads

Community supports Roadrunners as sports teams capture Cup.
This year’s Extravaganza at Crossroads School was characterized by large crowds, enthusiastic cheers, thrilling performances—and the return of the coveted Cup.

Thanks to several landmark victories, the Roadrunners on Friday reclaimed the trophy that is awarded annually to the overall aggregate winner of the day’s various athletic competitions against league rival Brentwood.

The Cup was secured after the varsity boys basketball team defeated the Eagles 54-50 and the varsity boys soccer team tallied a 4-1 triumph. Crossroads also won the varsity girls basketball game, 51-39.

The varsity girls volleyball team, which won a CIF Southern Section championship this fall, was honored during halftime of the girls basketball game Friday. The celebration included the unveiling of two banners: one for the Roadrunners’ section championship and another for their state regional title.

Earlier in the day, the 21st Street Campus hosted a pep rally that featured competitive challenges, athlete introductions and more than a few spirited chants.
