On April 25, the Elementary School Parent Band held their annual performance for students, parents and employees.
On April 25, 12 Elementary School parents took the stage in the Community Room to perform in the annual Crossroads Parent Band. The performance started out with a rendition of “Best Day of My Life” by American Authors and was followed by a string of present-day favorites, along with a few classics. Elementary School students, parents and faculty and staff got a high-energy start to their Friday thanks to the performance, which ended with “What Does the Fox Say” by Ylvis.
The Parent Band was formed to give parents who have worked in the music industry professionally at some point in their career to share that aspect of their life with Elementary School students. While the majority of this year’s band members have been part of the group for several years, two new members joined this year: Jennifer Caloyeras and Val McCallum.
This was the last year of performing for two longtime members of the Parent Band: Barnet Malin and Karey Kirkpatrick, who marked his 10th and final year with the band as his youngest child moves on to Middle School in the fall. Before the performance, Karey’s fellow band members thanked him for all he’s done to coordinate the effort throughout the past decade.
