Swimmers Continue to Show off Mad Skills Among League Opponents
The Roadrunners hosted their second league meet of the season where once again, the Crossroads crew showed off their speed and grace in the water. The boy’s team was anchored by 8th grader Eamon Myatt, who was victorious in all four of his races. Myatt took home blue ribbons in the 100 Freestyle with a season best swim of 1:07.41, and the 25 Breaststroke with a lifetime best 17.70. He was joined by fellow 8th graders Hugh Vandeweghe, Kai Pringle, and Ben Klyce to pick up wins in the 200 Medley and 200 Freestyle Relays. Pringle added a victory in the 50 free with a lifetime best 26.35, while Vandeweghe picked up a personal best time of 1:17.01 to win the 100 IM. Other race winners included 8th grader Jake Hirshberg-17.34 in the 25 Butterfly, Owyn Strand-22.17 in the 25 Backstroke, and Oliver Miller-40.67 in his heat of the 50 freestyle. Miller added a victory in his heat of the 25 freestyle-17.58. Abe Spector won his heat of the 25 Breaststroke with a time of 18.85, while 7th grader Lars Hereaus-15.24, and 8th grader Lyon Mandel-16.23 did the same in their respective heats of the 25 freestyle. Finally the relay quartet of 6th graders Jett Laiken, Tomas Perea, along with Miller and Mandel took home first place in the 100 Free Relay. Sofie Szigeti remains unbeaten for the girl’s team this season as she was a 4-time winner on Thursday as well. The 8th grader took home individual wins in the 25 Breaststroke-17.81 and 100 IM-1.17.55. Both were season best swims. She was joined by fellow 8th graders Rowena Smith and Hope Hamilton, along with 7th grader Kerron Jones to win the 200 Medley Relay. 8th graders Oona Summerford-Ng and Cali O’Donovan joined Szigeti and Smith to win the 200 Freestyle Relay. H.Hamilton was also a 4peat winner as she added individual victories in the 25 Butterfly-15.61 and 50 Freestyle-33.42. She also teamed up with Smith and 6th graders Jemma Handler and Norah Hamilton to win the 100 Free Relay. Handler, O’Donovan, Summerford-Ng, and Sarina Braun added a victory in the 100 Medley Relay. Other heat winners included N.Hamilton-18.73 and Smith-16.99 in the 25 Backstroke, and Jane Altschule-18.51, and Abby Borstein-17.13 in the 25 Freestyle.
