EMMI Chamber Orchestra Performs at Carnegie Hall

Students from Crossroads’ Elizabeth Mandell Music Institute chamber orchestra performed at world-renowned Carnegie Hall in New York on March 14, an extraordinary experience for the students and a special opportunity to showcase the School’s outstanding music program.
The EMMI orchestra was one of the few high school music groups selected to participate in this year’s New York Invitational Music Festival, where it earned a gold award for its performance of Benjamin Britten’s “Simple Symphony” under the direction of EMMI conductor Alexander Treger.
“We are so proud of these students for their commitment to classical music and for representing Crossroads so fabulously in such an esteemed setting,” says Grace Park, director of K-12 strings and director of EMMI. “This opportunity was a true testament to the skill, passion and collaboration that we see every day in the performing arts at Crossroads.”
Two nights earlier, the EMMI students performed for Crossroads alumni and other members of the School community during a private recital and reception at Village Community School in New York.
