YoungArts Competition Honors Five Roadrunners

Three seniors, two alumni recognized in competitive national arts program.
Three Crossroads seniors and two alumni received recognition in the 2018 YoungArts competition, a national arts program for talented high school students from across the country.

Senior musician Anna Abondolo earned honorable mention for jazz double bass, senior Nico Gordon was awarded merit in the cinematic arts category and senior Isaac Pross won merit in composition.

Two recent graduates, Ethan Treiman ’17 (composition) and Alec Schulman ’17 (jazz keyboard), received honorable mention.

“Crossroads has helped me develop as an artist by providing so many artistic opportunities to showcase my work and try new things,” says Anna, who was also among last year's winners. “This honor motivates me to work even harder at my craft and inspires me to make more music. I am really excited to meet more of the YoungArts community and collaborate with artists across genres.”

Chosen from a competitive pool of applicants in the visual, literary, design and performing arts, the Crossroads honorees will be offered “financial, professional and artistic development opportunities over the course of their careers,” according to a YoungArts press release.

The winners are eligible to participate in a regional YoungArts program that will take place March 24-29 in Los Angeles.
