Crossroads seventh-grader Dara Yu is one of two final contestants on MasterChef Junior, a cooking competition show that airs Fridays. Dara auditioned for the show earlier this year and after several video presentations and on-camera cooking demonstrations, she was chosen along with 23 other children ages 8 to 13 from across the country. The show, which aims to get kids interested in cooking, will air its final episode this Friday evening, Nov. 8 at 8 p.m. on FOX.
Dara has become a fan favorite on the show because of her bubbly personality, the compassion and support she showed the other contestants and the signature red plastic bow she wears on her head. She says that her Life Skills classes at Crossroads helped her during the competition. “I was able to talk about my feelings and show my emotion,” she says. “Crossroads is also very creative, and I think that helped me a lot.”
