Team Royal Wins on the Road

The Roadrunners played Westside Neighborhood School for a second game in a week, this one at WNS. Coach Carlos Lopez noted, “The field is huge and it took us the entire first half to settle and get used to the spacing.” Will Nicholas scored the Roadrunners’ first goal on a beautiful free kick that went over the goalie’s head. They continued to create chances and were able to find Brody Abowitz in the box where he scored another amazing header that went low and beat the goalie. WNS kept fighting and were rewarded with a goal right before the half ended.  In the second half, Crossroads settled down and kept possession of the ball. “We were able to connect our passes and created more opportunities,” said Coach Lopez. Will continued his hot streak by finishing a short pass in the box played to him by Donovan Mark. The Roadrunners continued to pressure WNS and closed them down every time. “Defensively we were organized and kept control of the game,” said Coach Carlos who was pleased that his team is heading into the break with a solid 3-1 win.
