Anthony Locke ’01 Appointed New Head of Upper School

Crossroads alumnus and longtime administrator to helm high school.
Anthony Locke ’01 will serve as head of Upper School, following a stint as the interim head since Roxanne Zazzaro resigned in June 2020. Anthony has done a tremendous job directing the Upper School since then and has become a valuable member of the School’s senior leadership team. He has provided strong leadership and a steady hand through significant challenges and demonstrated the warmth, sound judgement and student-centered approach that have characterized his long tenure at the School. Anthony has not only a clear vision for the Upper School, but also deep respect for the overall mission of Crossroads, having lived it himself as a student in the Middle and Upper Schools.

Anthony was selected after a nationwide search for a permanent head of Upper School, which began with a pool of nearly 40 highly qualified candidates. After almost four months of interviews with 15 finalists, Anthony emerged as the clear choice.

A 2001 graduate of Crossroads, Anthony began working at the School as a seventh-grade Core instructor and boys and girls varsity basketball coach. He spent four years in the Life Skills and Community Service departments before becoming an Upper School advisor and then dean of student life. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Morehouse College, a juris doctorate from the University of West Los Angeles and is pursuing a doctorate in education from the University of Southern California.
