Crossroads School Appoints Anna McCorvey as Head of Middle School

Anna will assume her new role at the start of the 2023-24 school year.
Following a nationwide search, the School has appointed Anna McCorvey as the new head of Middle School. Anna succeeds Michelle Merson, who has led the division since 2016. Michelle will be moving to Pittsburgh this summer to be closer to family.

Anna currently serves as the deputy head of secondary school, comprising over 900 students in grades six through 12, at the Awty International School in Houston. Prior to that, she served as their head of middle school, deputy head of middle school and an English teacher in middle and high school. Before joining Awty, Anna spent seven years as a private educator, academic advisor and secondary school English teacher in Chicago.

Anna holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Jackson State University, a master’s degree in English from Tennessee State University and a master’s degree in Private School Leadership from Columbia University’s Klingenstein Center. When Anna’s not working, she’s at home with her 13-year-old son, Jackson, and their standard poodle, Jett.

“I am excited and honored to begin my first year as the head of Middle School at Crossroads School,” shares Anna. “The 2023-24 school year will be my 20th year in education, and it will be one of the most exciting years as together we modify, create, invent and experience new ways to make education even better for all Crossroads students. Together, with a team of excellent and creative Crossroads teachers, I am committed to providing your students with a developmentally sound foundation for a lifetime of learning.”
