Roadrunners Look Solid in Debut Match

Coach Tucker Fortson said the following in regards to his team’s debut match against Santa Monica High School:

“Starting at 1 singles, Arya Jandaghi brought his consistent ground strokes out in full force easily winning one of his matches.  Kayal Bhatia was great at finding his opponents' weaknesses at 2 singles. David Deiser won one of his matches at 3 singles with his powerful serve that left his opponents defenseless.  Playing at 1 doubles, Cayson Wernick and Avanth Pakanati utilized their unorthodox court movement and lob strategies to win two of their matches. Liam Shiflett and Dashiell Raimi came in at 2 doubles and used powerful forehands and a strong net presence to win one of their matches. Playing at 3 doubles, Evan Hayes and Eugene Fisher ran down tough shots and had impressive volleys which made for fun rallies to watch. Even though the Roadrunners ended up losing 5-9 to Samohi today, it was an impressive demonstration of ability from all the athletes especially for their first match of the season. Everyone played really well and were fully invested in their matches. They gave it their best shot and I'm very happy with that! Now we continue building.”
