Theater
“OKLAHOMA”
When It opened in 1943, this musical—the first collaboration between Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein—changed the face of musical theater forever, giving birth to the format of the modern “book musical.” For the first time, dialogue, music and dance worked in concert to inform character and create a cohesive narrative. Set in 1907, this hilarious and heartbreaking story of romance in the Oklahoma territory on the verge of statehood is the first Rodgers and Hammerstein musical ever produced in Crossroads School's nearly 50-year history! "Oklahoma" is directed by Scott Weintraub with a cast of 16 Drama Conservatory students, accompanied by a full orchestra comprising students in Crossroads' Elizabeth Mandell Music Institute. Six performances only!
