Artist in Residence Audrey Chan

Sam Francis Gallery
During the residency at Sam Francis Gallery, Audrey will develop the first installment of a series of works on paper about family storytelling and learning languages. The imagery and words will be rooted in family lore from Chan’s Chinese-American family in Oak Park, Illinois, and her husband's Jamaican-American family in the Bronx. The residency project is a continuation of Chan’s work about the role of allegorical storytelling and the power of place in the construction of identity.
