Crossroads will offer and prefers the Secondary School Admissions Test
(SSAT) as our admissions test for 6th grade next year instead of the Independent School Admissions Test (ISEE).
After multiple years of research, it is clear that the SSAT is a superior admission test in its construction, psychometrics, and equity for families.
One of our primary goals is to make the application process as straightforward and accessible as possible, so we will be offering the SSAT at Crossroads twice this fall. We will have more than enough space to accommodate any applicants wishing to take the test at Crossroads.
A few details to note:
- Register for the test: SSAT at Crossroads on Saturday, November 11 or Saturday, December 9. Crossroads’ school code is 2673.
- What does the test cover? Find specific information about the SSAT sections here.
- Fee waivers: Crossroads has enough fee waivers for all qualifying families. For more information, please contact Amy Walia-Fazio, Associate Director of Secondary Admissions.
To help prepare for the SSAT, we highly encourage visiting the SSAT’s Practice Portal
. All students can take a free online 30-minute practice SSAT and receive feedback on what areas to focus on in preparing for the test. Those wanting additional preparation can purchase full access to the portal for a modest fee. All families who qualify for a test fee waiver will have full access to the Practice Portal free of charge
We understand that families may be more familiar with the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). And, while we prefer the SSAT for our 6th grade applicants, we will continue to accept the ISEE as well.
If you have any questions about the SSAT or the application process
, please let us know. We are here to help support you through the admissions process and look forward to meeting you at one of our upcoming admissions events!
