9-12 ACADEMIC COURSES
Test Preparation
SAT PREP
Instructors:
Drew Brody and Derek Rethwish, Crossroads Summer Faculty
Improve your test taking skills and master the SAT! Using The Official Guide to the New SAT as our text, students learn a plethora of strategic methods for engaging the SAT, as well as specific material for each of the subjects covered: arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, sentence construction, paragraph structure, identifying grammar errors, critical reading, sentence completion, and the 25-minute essay. Focus is also on developing higher level thinking skills, such as critical reasoning and analysis, as they are necessary to succeed both on the SAT and in all other academic endeavors. The first day of class and other practice test taking classes will meet for four hours.*

SAT SUBJECT TESTS PREP
Instructor:

Most
competitive colleges (including all campuses
of The University of California) now require
at least two SAT Subject Test scores in
addition to the SAT or ACT. Students can
choose from 20 different achievement-based
tests in such subjects as Mathematics,
Literature, History, Biology, Chemistry,
Physics, and many foreign languages. In
this class, we will create an optimum plan
for each student, based on his or her
classwork, and work in depth towards the
tests students are most likely to take:
Mathematics level 2, Literature, and U.S.
History.
