Lisa Hadfield Named to the All-Century Softball Team

The elementary P.E. coordinator earns Pac-12 honor for college achievements.
Elementary School P.E. Coordinator Lisa Hadfield (née Longaker) was recently honored for her athleticism on the softball field during college, earning a place on the Pac-12 All-Century Softball Team.

Lisa pitched for the University of California, Los Angeles’ softball team from 1987-1990. She has worked at Crossroads for 24 years, starting by helping coach the varsity softball team and giving pitching lessons throughout Santa Monica and the South Bay.

The All-Century team includes 30 players (17 field and 13 pitchers), with Lisa’s alma mater, UCLA, comprising 14 of those players. A panel of 35 coaches, players, administrators and members of the media voted on the team.

“The honor is astounding, especially noting the consistency of talent that has permeated the Pac-12 for years and years,” Lisa said. “My UCLA years were some of my most memorable and the fact that I continue to be drawn back into my Bruin family is truly a blessing. Softball started out as a way to utilize my competitive nature, but early on it took shape in a different form, as college recruitment became real.”

Lisa said softball was her “savior” and has created unimaginable opportunities throughout the years.

“It allowed me to meet people I never would have met, and gave me an invaluable take on life that, I am certain, I would not have attained without it,” she said.

She said her late father, who was her coach and mentor, played a major role in her achievements in softball.

“My successes were, in part, due to him and everything he taught me, on the field and off,” Lisa said.
