Movin’ and Groovin’ Day Builds Community

Elementary School holds its annual day of play.
On Sept. 19, the Elementary School celebrated the start of the new school year with its annual Movin’ and Groovin’ Day, which devoted the entire day to participating in exciting activities around the Norton Campus.

“Movin’ and Groovin’ Day is a time to build community,” says Elementary School Director Joanie Martin. “It’s a chance to celebrate the joy we have being together, to learn and to play.”

The day kicked off with a Friday morning Gathering of the Elementary School led by a professional “bubblologist,” who put on a dazzling bubble show while explaining the scientific principles behind her soapy creations. Afterward, the students broke up into groups to rotate through the day’s activities, which exercised both the body and the mind. These included science experiments, drama, music, Wii Dance, swimming and an inflatable obstacle course on the field.
