IN ORDER TO CREATE AND MAINTAIN EXCELLENCE in the diversity of our educational programs and student population, to develop the physical plant, to address construction needs, and to increase the endowment, the board of trustees has adopted a fundraising program that reaches out to current Crossroads families.* While you are at Crossroads, we ask you to make the school your philanthropic priority.
The Annual Giving Campaign
Crossroads Annual Giving Campaign is the core of Crossroads fundraising program, bridging the difference ($3,690 this year) between tuition income and the actual cost of each child’s Crossroads education. Annual Giving enables the school to meet the immediate costs of salaries and benefits for faculty, to provide the rich curricular choices that help each child find their passion, and to further the school's founding commitment to socio-economic diversity supported by the Tuition Reduction Fund. Every family is expected to participate in keeping with their financial circumstances.
The Alumni Change-A-Life Campaign
In 1993, Crossroads alumni created the Change-A-Life Campaign, raising funds for the Tuition Reduction Program that contribute to the education of students who otherwise would not have the opportunity to attend Crossroads. The Crossroads community is enriched, our founding commitment to socio-economic diversity strengthened, and the school philosophy validated by the generosity of our alumni. There is no greater confirmation that the school's founding principles and commitment to community remain with our students as they move into the larger world
Tuition Reduction Fund
A growing group of families (including alums, parents of alums, grandparents and special friends) make a long-term commitment of six years or more to support this vital program which helps increase the school’s socio-economic diversity.
K-12 Parent Association Annual Fundraising
Each spring there is one major K-12 event which is both a community builder and a fundraiser. With support from the Development and Community Relations Office, volunteer parents organize each event. The proceeds from the event, raised in large part through a sponsorship program, are divided among the Tuition Reduction Fund, The Crossroads Community Outreach Foundation (a separate non-profit organization founded by Crossroads School to provide educational support to the greater community), the Faculty Professional Development Fund and the Faculty Endowment Fund. The type of event, priced to include all Crossroad families and intended to foster a strong sense of community, rotates every three years. Each event is reflective of a component of the school’s philosophy ( for example, our commitment to the arts or to community). All parents are asked to participate.
Within the Parent Association, there are some smaller fundraising efforts such as the SCRIP program (scrip is used rather than cash to purchase goods with Crossroads receiving a percentage) and some elementaryspecific fundraisers such as an annual bookfair.
The Major Gifts Program
In order to improve the teaching and learning environment and to ensure the financial stability of the school , Crossroads has a major gifts campaign for those families with the interest in making a major financial investment in the school and the capacity to do so.
The major gifts program supports special needs (such as purchasing real estate, constructing buildings and increasing the school’s endowment fund) that require contributed funds in addition to Annual Giving.
For information please contact Corinne Schulman, Director of Development and Community Relations at (310) 829-7391 ext. 512.
* Crossroads has also instituted annual giving programs for grandparents/special friends; and parents of alumni.
