Criteria for Consideration
KINDERGARTEN: To be eligible for kindergarten, students must be five years old by September 1 of the year of entry (no exceptions). All applicants to grades 1 and 2 must meet the same September 1 cut-off date. That cut-off date remains as a guide for grades 3-5. Students will be considered based on recommendations from the pre-school and a parent interview.
FIRST THROUGH FIFTH GRADE: Spaces are available based on attrition only. It is always possible that no openings will occur. Children will be considered for admission to these grades based on: transcripts, current grades, recommendation from a current teacher and a school administrator, and a student visit to Crossroads.
SIXTH THROUGH EIGHTH GRADE: Consideration for admission is based upon: transcripts, current grades, two teacher recommendations, an administrator's recommendation, ISEE scores, and a student interview. New spaces are available in grades six and seven; in 6th grade, priority is given to students whose elementary school experience ends after fifth grade. In grade eight, spaces are available by attrition only.
NINTH THROUGH TWELFTH GRADE: There are a limited number of spaces available in 9th grade. In 10th - 12th grades, spaces are available based on attrition only. Tuition for the 2007/2008 academic year is $22,030 for grades K - 5 and $26,100 for grades 6 - 12. The costs of yearbook publications, elective class materials, and most field trips are included in the tuition. In grades 6 - 12, fees for yearbook publications, elective class materials, and field trips total $300 annually. In grades 6 - 12, charges for books, environmental education trips, overnight trips, and social activities are additional expenses. In all cases, fees for extracurricular classes or activities, food service, and summer programs are additional expenses. A $1,700 non-refundable deposit and a $2,000 new student enrollment fee are required upon enrollment to hold a place for the student in the upcoming school year. The balance of tuition and fees is payable in full by July 1, 2008.

Fundraising Programs
In order to create and maintain excellence in the diversity of our educational programs and student population, to develop the physical plant, to address construction needs, and to increase the endowment, the Board of Trustees has adopted a fundraising program that reaches out to current Crossroads families and alumni.
ANNUAL GIVING: The 100% Participation Annual Giving Campaign helps close the financial gap between tuition income and the actual cost of educating each student. We encourage parents to use that ‘gap’ as a guideline when making a contribution to this campaign, mindful that Crossroads welcomes and is deeply appreciative of gifts of any amount. Every family is asked to plan their giving to include a contribution each year to this vital campaign that supports the immediate operational needs, including teachers’ salaries and financial aid. Our goal is 100% participation and those who give are listed in alphabetical order (never by amount!). Gifts currently range from $5 to $50,000.
FINANCIAL AID PROGRAM: A small group of families (alums, parents, grandparents and friends) make a long-term commitment of six years or more to support this vital program.
PARENT ASSOCIATION SPECIAL EVENTS: Every parent is automatically a member of the Parent Association at Crossroads. Crossroads’ Parent Association encourages all parents to be actively involved with the school in ways that best suit their talents, interests and schedules. There is one major K-12 event each spring, which is both a community builder and a fundraiser. The proceeds from that event, raised in large part through a sponsorship program, support specific areas of the School’s annual operations including the Financial Aid program, the Crossroads Community Outreach Foundation ( a separate non-profit organization founded by Crossroads School to provide educational support to the greater community), and the Faculty Professional Development Fund. In addition, The Parent Association was the third largest donor to the recent Capital Campaign and has given generously to the Parent Association Faculty Endowment Fund for the last five years. These events foster a strong sense of community and substantially enhance Crossroads’ fundraising goals. All parents are asked to participate.
MAJOR GIFTS CAMPAIGN: In the last few decades, the school has engaged in capital campaigns to develop the physical campus. The Crossroads Board of Trustees has now determined that, in order to support the complex needs of the coming decade, our efforts should be focused on faculty compensation and sustaining Crossroads’ core values, including the continued support of the Financial Aid Program. The newest campaign is designed to help offset the operating budget through the purchase of buildings that are currently leased, as well as to raise direct gifts to the endowment fund.

Crossroads School offers open enrollment based on application and admits all students to the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. The School does not discriminate on the basis of color, national or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, gender or gender identity, or religion or creed, in the administration of its educational policies, financial aid programs, or athletic and other school-administered programs. Crossroads seeks students with a range and depth of interests and talents. In addition, the school seeks to provide classes which balance boy/girl ratios, ethnic and socio-economic diversity, and heterogeneity in skills.
