Human Resources Manager
JOB DESCRIPTION   We are looking for an experienced HR generalist with significant benefits management background and organizational ability.   Responsibilities will include reviewing all personnel actions (hiring, promotions, job changes, etc.) for consistency and accuracy; analyzing policies, practices and programs for compliance with applicable laws and regulations; administering the employee benefits program; improving HR filing systems and coordination with payroll, as well as exploring development of additional databases; and providing counsel to both employees and supervisors on employee relations issues.  EXPERIENCE: The job requires excellent communication skills, a thorough knowledge of California labor law, high levels of professionalism and discretion, and skill with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.  A bachelor's degree and at least five years progressively responsible human resources experience is required; HR certification is preferred.  Education or related non-profit experience is a plus.

Network Technician
Full Time Hourly (Non-exempt) with overtime as needed.
JOB DESCRIPTION  Installing, supporting, and troubleshooting computers and other infrastructure equipment. Following established processes to troubleshoot problems in the LAN environment. Installing and testing new technologies and software. Providing primary desktop support to end users. Participating in the implementation of department wide projects which may require training end users on how to work with new technologies. 
EXPERIENCE: 
Must have at least 5 years experience in a similar position. Must be  comfortable and knowledgeable working in a Microsoft shop environment with IBM servers and Dell workstations. Possess an understanding of computer installation and configuration and basic network technology and a general knowledge of DOS, Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2003 Server, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Microsoft Suite of Office Products. Must be effective in verbal and written communication skills and have strong customer service skills. Must be willing to learn new technologies and keep current with latest network technologies. Must be willing to move and carry equipment such as desktop computers, notebooks, printers weighing up to 30 lbs. Must understand how to configure and manage 3Com managed switches, RF units and WiFi bridges, access points and routers. Must understand how to install, configure and maintain print servers and HP Laser printers in a multi print server environment and have the ability to run network lines, install punch blocks and communication cabinets and complete RJ-45 ends. Not required but a big plus: Ability to install, configure and troubleshoot with Mitel PBX hand sets, specifically the 420 and 401 series. Familiarity with the Mitel PBX phone system, terminology, sub-systems and Apple OSX. Language Laboratory Attendant 
Part time Hourly (23-25 hours per week). Monday – Thursday
JOB DESCRIPTION Working in the Modern Foreign Language Department, this person will supervise the MFL language laboratory and work collaboratively with the MFL Department faculty and students to support their needs on curricular related activities and be responsible for maintaining organization and order within the physical space of the language lab.
EXPERIENCE:  Technical skills, demonstrated ability to research, recommend, initiate, and deploy innovative applications for language learning are all preferred. Must have knowledge of Windows and troubleshooting skills. Previous language lab experience preferred. Fluent in Spanish and/or French a plus but not necessary.

Security Officer
Part time Hourly position
JOB DESCRIPTION This position is responsible for the safe crossing of Crossroads faculty, students and parent community at 20th & Olympic, or from time-to-time, 21st Street. Primary crossing responsibilities 20th & Olympic; from time to time, we may need you to perform crossing on 21st Street. As crossing guard, you are responsible for safe and courteous crossing of Crossroads students, parents and faculty.  To ensure safe crossing, check the traffic, enter the street, stop sign above your head, use voice commands, whistle, and hand signals to let people know it is safe to cross.  Do not hold up traffic, watch for speeders and large trucks and they have a hard time stopping. Work with all security, but particularly the 20th St. rover and the 21st Street Security Guard until the Upper School allows it, the campus is closed until 12:20pm – No students are allowed to leave without written notice from the Upper School. Watch for unwanted visitors entering Humanities parking lot or entrance down 21st Street.  Report any unwanted visitors immediately over the radio for possible assistance. As security surrounding our campus, you provide a valuable public relations service for Crossroads School.  It is very important that you present yourself properly to the public as a member of the Crossroads community.  As such, no smoking is permitted while you are on patrol and attire must be clean and tidy at all times.
EXPERIENCE: Must have strong communication skills. Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time. Have the ability to multi task. Guard card preferred but not necessary.

Event Support Staff
Part time hourly 
Hours: Various days during the week, generally evenings and weekends.
JOB DESCRIPTION Assist in the preparation of onsite events. This includes, but is not limited to the set-up and take-down of tables and chairs, beverage service, electrical equipment, and audio-visual equipment, etc. Work with event designate to insure all details of the event are carried out. Follow-up after event with appropriate supervisor
Must be able to perform minor repairs during an event, be accessible by radio and/or on-site cellular phone (provided by Crossroads) to handle calls related to the event or the site.
EXPERIENCE: Must have strong communication skills.  Friendly demeanor in person and on the telephone. The ability to take direction from security guards in the event of an emergency. Must have flexibility in schedule. Be detailed, and have the ability to follow through. Must wear event attire (provided by Crossroads) at all times. Be in good physical condition and be able to do physical labor, and lift up to 50 lbs. Prior work in event setup is a plus as well as prior Customer Service experience in dealing with the general public as well as with internal departments.

CURRENT OPENINGS - SUMMER AT CROSSROADS ‘08

The Summer at Crossroads ’08 session is June 23-August 1, 2008, unless otherwise indicated.  The Mandatory April Open House for Summer Elementary School and Sports Faculty is Saturday, April 12th, from 11am to 1pm.  The Mandatory May Open House for Summer Middle School, Upper School, and Sports Faculty is Wednesday, May 14th, in the late afternoon until 7:00pm.  School is closed on July 4th for the Independence Day Holiday. 
All programs are contingent upon adequate enrollment and actual employment can not be confirmed until the class attains the minimum enrollment.  We continue to accept enrollment up to and after the first day of programs and confirmation of employment may be as late as mid-June.

Summer Junior Lifeguards, part-time (approximately 16-25 hours per week) beginning June 16-August 17.
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates for this position must hold current certifications in Guard Start Training, CPR/1st Aid Training and have experience working with children.

 

Summer Lifeguard, part-time (approximately 15-35 hours per week) or full-time (approximately 40 hours per week), beginning June 16-August 17
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates for this position must hold current certifications in Lifeguard Training, CPR/1st Aid Training and have some experience working with children in aquatics. Previous experience as a Lifeguard is preferred.
 

Summer Water Safety Instructor/Lifeguard, part-time (approximately 15-35 hours per week) or full-time (approximately 40 hours per week), beginning June 16-August 17
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates for this position must hold current certifications in Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard Training, CPR/1st Aid Training, and have experience teaching instructional swimming to children at all skill levels.
