FOR PARENTS, there are few more important tasks than finding the right setting in which a child can learn and grow. Selecting that setting is a process of finding the best match between a family's beliefs, values, and goals around education and the culture of the schools being considered. At Crossroads we provide an education in balance.

THE ARTS AT CROSSROADS are as important as math, English, and other traditional curricular building blocks. We consider the expressive and creative qualities of children to be as significant as the essential cognitive skills they need to develop. When creativity is valued and validated in the school culture, a child's relationship to the educational enterprise is enriched. As a result, children perform better academically.

BECAUSE WE ARE CONCERNED WITH THE WHOLE CHILD, we pay close attention to the inner life of children and their need for conversation and guidance about the personal, emotional, and social transitions they negotiate. Human Development is not simply a philosophical concept at Crossroads; it is an essential part of the curriculum. It supports the personal growth of young people and gives them a forum in which to discuss their deepest concerns.

WE BELIEVE THAT TEACHING young people to give back to the community and to care for those who cannot care for themselves is a critically important part of an education in balance. The notion of social justice and inclusion are specific to our philosophy. Diversity in all forms is honored in the Crossroads culture. Because we want Crossroads to reflect the world, we strive for and welcome diversity of race, cultures, sexual orientation, spiritual beliefs, and socio-economic levels in our school community.

A GENUINE, RIGOROUS, COLLEGE PREPARATORY EDUCATION joins the life of the mind with the joy of spirit. By providing an education in balance, we give our graduates the most precious gift of all: a passion for life and learning that sends them off to college eager and ready to meet new challenges.

THAT IS WHAT WE BELIEVE an education in balance provides, and that is the Crossroads School commitment.
