COUNSELING PHILOSOPHY: Integral to a Crossroads education is the support and guidance offered to students in the process of planning their future beyond high school. Counseling students in this process starts when they enter Crossroads and is inseparable from the school's larger commitment to the development of each student's full human potential. The foundation of this holistic approach is reinforced daily through relationships with teachers and deans and experiences in classes and extra-curricular activities.
The process becomes more focused in the eleventh and twelfth grade and involves deep personal reflection and careful research of available options. At that point, the role of the Academic Dean is to coach students and their families in how to use the information gleaned from the self-reflection and research to make decisions that best match the student's passions, goals, and individual strengths.
