UPPER SCHOOL COURSES at Crossroads are consistently intellectually rigorous. They require the integration and synthesis of complex material and challenge students' abilities in new ways. Students thrive in this environment because it also encourages them to follow their creative and athletic interests as far as possible.
As Upper School students continue their educational journey, they and their parents begin to focus in earnest on college plans. This is a natural development, and Crossroads offers students in grades nine through twelve many educational experiences that will serve their future plans through richly diverse offerings in academics, arts, and athletics.
THROUGH A DYNAMIC CURRICULUM that emphasizes skills development and the values of problem solving, Crossroads students are prepared for the most demanding colleges and universities. But students should not lose sight of the educational process as they look toward their post-high-school goals. The curriculum, therefore, also makes serious commitments to the research process, to linguistic, cultural and aesthetic literacies, and to a considered evaluation of ones own value structure.
Upper School students are encouraged to balance academic, artistic, athletic, community, and social pursuits. Crossroads honors its philosophical commitments to educating students in all areas of human endeavor, including those involving social justice and self-awareness.
