Middle School Admissions
MIDDLE SCHOOL children are at a time in their lives when they test the waters of the bigger world around them. They are also changing at a rapid pace emotionally, intellectually, and physically. This life passage for young adolescents is important because it is their first step toward independence. An effective Middle School, therefore, is one that recognizes this transition and helps children deal with it positively.

AT CROSSROADS, a strong partnership that assures the well being of the emerging adolescent is fostered between the school, its students, and their families. Middle School children need consistency from parents and teachers in order to move into adulthood with a healthy understanding of self. As they take risks in the classroom, on stage, or on the playing field, they need to know that support is available when they struggle and that praise is abundant when they succeed.

CROSSROADS HAS CREATED A MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAM that meets the intellectual and developmental needs of early adolescents. Based on research from the Carnegie Foundation's report on Middle School education, the program provides a strong academic framework while allowing students to make choices in elective classes. Middle School teachers quickly assess the strengths and learning styles of each student and adjust their teaching techniques to create optimal learning conditions for each student.

THE THEMATIC STRUCTURE of the Middle School curriculum provides a meaningful context for students to relate academics to their own lives. The warm, energetic, Middle School faculty is particularly attuned to guiding students to intellectual, social, and emotional maturation. Crossroads Middle School recognizes each child's individuality while preparing him/her for success in the Upper School.
