September 17, 2007 Dear Student Musicians, As you move into a new school year and are searching for opportunities to expand the scope of your Crossroads experience into more artistic realms, I encourage you to consider joining the Crossroads Community Youth Orchestra (CCYO). The orchestra is there for you and exists as a fun and rewarding opportunity to share your talent through practice and performance with the Crossroads community and beyond. As a student of Crossroads, CCYO is available to you at no additional charge and can be used for your Arts Credit requirement. The ensemble is comprised of strings, winds, brass and percussion instruments and so I welcome players of nearly all instruments who are at the intermediate to advanced playing level to join and become a part of this ever-expanding orchestra. I too am looking forward to seeing all of the returning musicians from last season and I want to extend a special greeting to the students who are seeking to join the orchestra for the first time this year. In our continuing tradition of excellence, we are planning a fun and rewarding program with concert repertoire that will both inspire and challenge each and every musician. This orchestra provides the music student with exceptional individual attention and a goal to help each member acquire the ensemble skills that will help them to become a more complete musician. It is my commitment to each musician in the orchestra to provide them with training and musicianship that will give them the confidence to perform on their instrument at their highest level.
The first meeting of the Crossroads Community Youth Orchestra
will be on Tuesday, October 9 at 5:30 P.M. in Roth Hall on the
Crossroads School Main Campus. IMPORTANT: Please bring
your instruments to the first meeting and prepare a 1-2 minute
solo excerpt and one Major scale and one Minor scale for a short
auditing that I will conduct for each musician. (Please
understand that this is not an entrance audition but rather for
helping me to decide appropriate placement of each musician.)
PARENTS: You will be asked to register your musician during this
audition time so please prepare to stay for the entire rehearsal
if possible..
